HOW ADVERTISING WORKS
Don’t think of advertising like a drug that you take and minutes later you feel the effect or an appliance that you purchase to perform a particular task. Advertising is more like a seed. The seed is trust in order to build a relationship, and advertising is one of the tools you use to do that . When people associate trust to your product and brand, through a mutual and beneficial relationship, they are much more likely to do business with you.
Don’t ask customers where they heard of you! Most businesses ask this to try to know where to focus marketing efforts. If you ask this, your customer will likely respond by telling you where they last heard of you, which is probably the medium that you use the most. That doesn’t mean that all of your other marketing efforts were for nothing, but rather that the last place they remember hearing about you was on that medium.
Ads that cost build an incredible amount of credibility for your name. Scammers are every where promoting their scams for nothing on social media. Anyone can do that, but only legit businesses will pay to promote their message. That tells your customer that not only are you a legitimate business, but you are making money, which also ads to your credibility.
Think of yourself as a doctor of your profession and your customers as patients. You’re not trying to make a buck, but trying to build a relationship of trust, which then translates into profit for your business.
Your ads, in all shapes, can be used as a way to communicate your offers to your customers, much in the same way that your doctor reminds you to come in for an annual check up or it’s time to get that colonoscopy. They make money from these procedures, but you don’t think of it that way. Rather, you think of these reminders as something for your benefit. Remember your business is a service to customers and you will profit not only in added sales, but lasting friendships. Use your ads, to communicate messages that build trust and benefit your customers.
